How to measure yourself
Measure yourself in your underwear, with a soft tape, standing and relaxed. Get someone to help with your back: a measurement taken alone is almost always too tight.
- NeckAround the base of the neck, where the collar sits. Slide one finger between the tape and your skin.
- ChestAt the fullest point, arms by your sides, tape level across your back.
- WaistAt the narrowest point, above the navel, without pulling. Breathe normally.
- HipsAt the fullest point of the hips, feet together.
- Inside legFrom the crotch to the floor, barefoot, or on a pair of trousers that fits you well.
- Foot lengthStanding, heel against a wall, on a sheet of paper. Use your longer foot.
Between two sizes, take the larger for a jacket or coat, the smaller for knitwear.
Trousers
The size is read from the waist, measured at its narrowest, never at the hips.

Do not rely on the size of your last pair of trousers. It varies by two sizes from one brand to another. Measure a pair that fits you instead, laid flat with the waistband closed: multiply the width by two.
