Jerem men’s size guide: find your size from your own measurements, for shirts, suits, trousers, jeans, belts and shoes.

How to measure yourself

Measure yourself in your underwear, with a soft tape, standing and relaxed. Get someone to help with your back: a measurement taken alone is almost always too tight.

  • NeckAround the base of the neck, where the collar sits. Slide one finger between the tape and your skin.
  • ChestAt the fullest point, arms by your sides, tape level across your back.
  • WaistAt the narrowest point, above the navel, without pulling. Breathe normally.
  • HipsAt the fullest point of the hips, feet together.
  • Inside legFrom the crotch to the floor, barefoot, or on a pair of trousers that fits you well.
  • Foot lengthStanding, heel against a wall, on a sheet of paper. Use your longer foot.
Between two sizes, take the larger for a jacket or coat, the smaller for knitwear.

Tops

Start with the chest measurement: that is the one that decides.

By cut

  • Slim fitClose to the body, tapered at the waist. Between two sizes, take the larger.
  • Coupe droiteFalls straight without marking the waist. Follow the table as it is.
  • Coupe confortExtra room through the chest. You can go down one size.

Shirts — collar size

These shirts are sized by the neck, in centimetres. The number on the label is your collar: 41 means 41 cm.

The finger test. With the collar closed, you should be able to slide one finger between the collar and your neck, no more. Two fingers fit: go down one size.

Jackets and coats

A jacket size is half your chest measurement: a 100 cm chest is a size 50.

The shoulder seam decides. It must sit exactly at the corner of your shoulder. A jacket can be taken in at the waist and sleeves, never at the shoulders.

Trousers

The size is read from the waist, measured at its narrowest, never at the hips.

Do not rely on the size of your last pair of trousers. It varies by two sizes from one brand to another. Measure a pair that fits you instead, laid flat with the waistband closed: multiply the width by two.

Jeans

On these jeans the size is shown as four digits. Find yours in the first column and read across.

The inside leg is measured from the crotch to the hem. 81 cm suits up to 1.80 m, 86 cm above that.

If in doubt about the length, take 81 cm. Jeans can be shortened by a tailor; they cannot be lengthened.

Belts

A belt is chosen on the trouser size, not on your body measurement: allow about 5 cm more.

The size given is the total length, buckle included. The middle hole should fall on your waist measurement.

To check against a belt you already own: measure from the base of the buckle to the hole you use. That number is your size.

Shoes

Measure your foot at the end of the day, standing, heel against a wall. Use your longer foot: they are never identical.
